Candidates for President

  • Tara Thompson

As a parent of a 7th grader actively participating in football, basketball, track, and soccer, and a freshman who also played all four sports during his time at CPMS, I am deeply committed to supporting our young athletes.

Over the years, I've spent countless hours volunteering and working with both the CPMS and CPHS booster clubs. This hands-on experience has taught me a lot about how we can better support our sports programs and boost school spirit.

Professionally, I work as an analyst, which equips me with strong communication, detail orientation, and organizational skills. These skills, along with my love for cheering on our student-athletes, drive me to give back to the Cedar Park community. I’m dedicated to making sure all our athletes, both boys and girls, get the support they deserve!

Candidates for VP, Boys Athletics

  • Donny Barsun

I am excited to express my interest in the Vice President of Boys Athletics position for the CPMS Athletics Booster Club because I am passionate about giving back to the school and supporting student-athletes. Over the past 15 years, I have been actively involved in various positions within youth sports organizations in the Cedar Park community. Additionally, I have had the privilege of coaching youth in football, basketball, and volleyball, which has allowed me to develop a deep appreciation for the impact athletics can have on students' lives. I am eager to contribute my experience and help create a positive, supportive environment for our student-athletes.

Candidates for VP, Girls Athletics

  • Kim Newton

I am excited to be considered for the position of Vice President of Girls Athletics. I am deeply committed to supporting our student-athletes and helping foster a strong athletic community. With my daughter participating in multiple sports, I see firsthand the dedication and hard work that goes into being a student-athlete. I have the time and energy to fully dedicate myself to this role and am eager to support the President, help recruit committee chairs and volunteers and provide guidance across all sports. I’m looking forward to coordinating Game Day meals, events, and themes, and I’m ready to actively contribute to creating a positive and supportive environment for the girls’ athletic programs.

Candidates for Treasurer

  • Courtney Sumner

I am an accountant with a strong passion for community involvement. Over the past five years, I have actively served on the PTA in various leadership roles, including Treasurer, Parliamentarian, and most recently, President. My experience in finance and organizational leadership has allowed me to make a meaningful impact, ensuring efficiency and growth in both my professional and volunteer roles.

Candidates for Secretary

  • Melissa Dakas

I'm a 14-year resident of Cedar Park and a proud parent of two children—an incoming 6th grade daughter who will be enrolled in pre-athletics, and a soon-to-be CPHS freshman son who has competed in four sports each of the last two years at CPMS. I'm excited to return to the Booster Club board, having previously served as Parliamentarian. I’m passionate about the role the Booster Club plays in promoting equity and creating opportunities for all CPMS athletes. By day, I work as a management consultant. In my free time, I’m a lifelong athlete, a sports enthusiast, and an active volunteer in our school community. I would be honored to continue serving and supporting our incredible student-athletes and coaching staff.

Candidates for VP of Fundraising

  • Sharon Cook

As a parent of an outgoing 8th grade son, an incoming 7th grade daughter, and an incoming 6th grade son I am familiar with the Athletics and Pre-Athletics program at CPMS. I will also be around for a few more years. I held the secretary position for the inaugural athletics booster this past year and a half, and I would love to continue on the board as fundraising for next year.

I would like to run for this position because I represent both the girl’s program and the boy’s program, and I believe I can make sure that every student in the Athletics program is well represented when it comes to funding. I have been on many boards in the past, and I believe I know what it takes to be a good team player. I am excited to help on the board next year and thank you for considering me for this position.

  • Melissa Ulrich

I served as the Sponsorships Chair this year. I created the sponsorship levels and led the solicitation of sponsors. We far exceeded the goal the board had set and I already have more in line for the next school year ready to commit. I would like to move into the VP of Fundraising role to continue that momentum. Fundraising and sponsorship development is my gift. I believe that a strong booster club is the foundation for a strong athletic program and that people should use their gifts to serve. I also serve CPHS Football Booster Club in the role of Sponsorships Chair and am incoming VP of Membership for Young Men in Service League, Cedar Park Chapter. I am a sustaining member of Junior League of Austin where my volunteer roles revolved around development and fundraising. In my professional world, I am an entrepreneur, owning and leading an award-winning travel agency. It would be my honor to continue to serve the CPMS Booster Club.
